Mina Yu with A Bunch of Smooth Operators
Having returned to Australia after seven years immersed in the jazz scenes of New York City and Boston, Korean‑Australian pianist and composer Mina Yu brings a refined, globally informed voice to the stage with A Bunch of Smooth Operators. Drawing on influences ranging from Herbie Hancock and Eliane Elias to Satie and Ravel, Mina’s playing blends lyrical jazz with classical nuance and East Asian sensibilities. Her music balances spontaneity and structure, creating emotionally rich soundscapes that feel both adventurous and accessible. Mina has performed at leading venues across the USA, Europe, Asia and Australia, including Carnegie Hall, Hamer Hall and the Melbourne International Jazz Festival, and is a finalist for the 2026 APRA PD Awards.
