Further Explorations: The Music of Bill Evans

A Bunch of Smooth Operators is a piano‑led jazz trio featuring Mina Yu on piano, Daniel Seddon on double bass and electric bass, and Philippe Schuster on drums. Their project Further Explorations: The Music of Bill Evans is a deep dive into the legacy of one of jazz’s most influential pianists. Drawing inspiration from landmark Bill Evans Trio recordings such as Portrait in Jazz, Explorations and Waltz for Debby, the trio celebrates Evans’ lyrical touch, harmonic sophistication and conversational interplay. The program moves from heartfelt acoustic interpretations of Evans’ classic period to more contemporary re‑imaginings, honouring his spirit while allowing space for modern expression, subtle risk‑taking and collective creativity.
